THE RULER OF THIS WORLD IS COMING; HE HAS NO POWER OVER ME

#Hour of Hope#

THE RULER OF THIS WORLD IS COMING; HE HAS NO POWER OVER ME

Memory Verse: John 14:30

In the kingdom of powers, there are levels; thus one power can be more powerful than the other. Lower powers, needless to say, submit to higher ones. And the respect for higher powers is highly practiced in the kingdom of powers.

There is no power – in the heavens, on earth, beneath the earth, or in the waters – which is higher than that of God Almighty and His Son Jesus Christ. There is no one powerful like our Lord Jesus. All other powers whatever form or shape subject to the obedience of Christ.

Beloved, you have a good news! The power of Christ has been given to the church which is the body of Christ through the Holy Spirit. You have a mighty One inside of you and He is greater than he who is in this world -even Satan. If the devil has issue with you, kindly direct him to Christ. Please don’t give him a hearing. Use the authority and power given to you by Christ to overcome him.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for the power given to me over the devil. I believe the devil has nothing in me because of the finished work of Jesus in Jesus’ Name, Amen!!

Scripture Reading: Mark 5:1-20

LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERY MAN A LIAR

#Hour of Hope#

“LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERY MAN A LIAR”

Memory Verse: Romans 3:4

The Lord has never and will never mistaken. He is much aware of whatever promise and assurance He utters. And since the Almighty has the capacity to do all things, you need not to worry about His ability to perform.

Man can be mistaken. They can fail on their promises and sometimes intentionally can deceive you – but the Lord is faithful and true in all things. He spoke through His prophets concerning the events of His people, the Israelites – and Christians – and every Word of the Lord has either come to pass or will come to pass.

Beloved, you serve a truthful God. No Word concerning your life from God has been spoken in vain. What have you heard from His servants and/ or received by a revelation or read from the Bible and have believed? They all shall surely be fulfilled. You just need to trust in the Lord’s faithfulness which will always keep you under His shelter. Don’t let the world to decide for you because it will fail you but God, the righteous One shall perform all His promises toward you.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You that You cannot lie to me. I trust in Your faithfulness for the performance of Your promises in my life in Jesus’ Name, Amen!!

Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 3:1-9

God bless you!

I AM SENDING MY ANGEL AHEAD OF YOU

#Hour of Hope#

“I AM SENDING MY ANGEL AHEAD OF YOU”

Memory Verse: Exodus 23:20

In order to accomplish the will of the Lord, He gives to man that ability and capacity to undertake that very task. For instance Noah was empowered to build the ark and Moses was enabled to lead the Israelites.

The people of Israel were delivered from slavery and bondage by a strong hand of the Lord with signs and wonders. Yet the Land which was promised to them was occupied by people of other nations – and Israel needed to drive them away. But it wasn’t their effort alone; an angel of God was sent ahead to ‘fight’ their battle.

Beloved, as a Christian, you are not alone in this life. We have numerous angels of the Lord surrounding us. Some are ahead of us in this life to take us to our promised land. You therefore need not to worry about tomorrow because the Lord through His angels has taken care of that. Ultimately God has given us His Spirit to also bring us to Himself in His Kingdom. Please don’t afraid, for we have angels and the Holy Spirit with us. You just have to yield to them.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for Your angels and Your Spirit who are with me and ahead of me to bring about my victory and glory and ultimately to heaven. Please help me to yield to them always in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Scripture Reading: Exodus 23:20-33

God bless you!

THE LORD ORDERED THE FISH TO SPEW JONAH UP ON THE BEACH

#Hour of Hope#

“THE LORD ORDERED THE FISH TO SPEW JONAH UP ON THE BEACH”

Jonah 2:10

The Lord is never interested in our disobedience which leads to the destruction of our own lives – and sometimes that of others. He is rather interested in our obedience which brings life, flourishing and prosperity.

Jonah disobedience took him to the belly of a fish for three days – this was not the will of God for him though. Therefore when he repented and prayed even from the belly of the fish, the Lord heard him and ordered the fish to free him.

Beloved, the Lord is not interested in your ruin. He desires your prosperity and increase. He is not mad at you because you disobeyed. He is waiting on you to repent and ask for pardon. As He heard Jonah, He will also hear you if you will call on Him. And remember that if God – and His Son Jesus – sets you free, you are free indeed.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You that You desire in my obedience and subsequent flourishing. Please forgive me my disobedience and save me from ‘this belly of the fish’ in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Read Jonah 1:17, 2:1-10

God bless you!

WHY AND WHO SHOULD I MARRY

Memory verse: Matthew 19:12 GNT
“For there are different reasons why men cannot marry: some, because they were born that way; others, because men made them that way; and others do not marry for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Let him who can accept this teaching do so” (Matt 19:12 GNT).
Friends, marriage is a gift of God and so is singleness. Not everybody is supposed to marry and probably there are many married people who were supposed not to have married. Jesus said “some are born not to marry; some are made not to marry; and yet some do not marry for the Kingdom business (Matt 19:12 paraphrased).
Apostle Paul said “I wish everyone were single, just as I am. Yet each person has a special gift from God, of one kind or another. So I say to those who are not married and to widows – It’s better to stay unmarried. Just as I am”. (1 Cor 7: 7-8, GNT)
Why would a person stay unmarried? One reason that the Bible mentions is that a person who is single can give "undistracted devotion to the Lord" (1 Corinthians 7:35). Being single means your attention is not divided between pleasing God and pleasing your spouse (1 Corinthians 7:32-35).
So does the Bible say that I can't marry? Absolutely not! Paul said, "If you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this" (1 Corinthians 7:28).
So therefore one –a Christian- has to thoroughly go inside him or her and seek the face of the Lord as to whether they have the gift to marry or stay single.
THE CHOICE OF A PARTNER
Bible says, "Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, for they will turn your sons away from following me to serve other gods, and the Lord's anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you." (Deuteronomy 7:3-4)
The same marriage principle applies in the New Testament. Believers are to marry only believers. This is because "A woman is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, but he must belong to the Lord." (1 Corinthians 7:39).
Let me add that a believer is someone who puts his complete faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; who has the Spirit of Christ Jesus living in him or her (1 John 5:12) and is changing to become more like Christ (1 John 2:3-6). This has nothing to do with denomination.
EXCUSES FOR DATING A NON-CHRISTIAN
You will often hear Christians giving justifications for dating or marrying an unbeliever. Here are some that I have heard:
• "Dating standards are different today."
• "I think he's open. Maybe I can witness on our dates." This is sometimes called "Missionary Dating."
• "He's not a Christian, but he's sure a nice guy."
• "He's more of a gentleman than most Christians I know."
• "He's come to our Christian fellowship several times."
• "I told him he had to be a Christian so he accepted Christ."
• "I became a Christian while we were already dating."
• "We have so much in common other than religion."
• "We don't plan to get serious."
• "I don't want him to think I'm a religious fanatic."
• "We're only young once."
• "He's got a few bad habits, but no one's perfect."
• "I know I should break up, but I don't want to hurt him."
• “They are the only unbelievers coming my way”
All of these are simply excuses for disobedience to God's commandments and His commandments are not meant to harm us, but to protect us from harm. We can trust Him, we can follow His decrees, and it will turn out good for us in the end.
W e shall continue on this topic if the Lord Jesus tarries.
God bless you!

KEEP YOUR TESTIMONY; NEVER LEND IT TO ANYONE!

The call of God is a call of testimonies. It’s a call of conviction and witnessing. God the Father expects all His children to have a testimony and keep it with them forever. The Encarta English Dictionary defines testimony as “something that supports a fact or a claim”. Many Christians claim that God is Omnipotent – thus All Powerful and indeed He is – yet because they lack testimonies, they most often than not make their problems bigger than God. They sometimes think God can do all things but their situation is exceptional and it’s beyond the ability of God. They magnify their problems over the Almighty God; how sad it is!

The early church was convinced of the Mighty Power of God. They believed they could do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthened them (Philippians 4:13). They had received one thing from the Lord and that was enough conviction for them that the Lord could do all things for them. No wonder they were seeing results. The more you keep your testimonies, the more testimonies you have!

John the Apostle heard and saw Jesus transfigured (Mark 9:2). When Jesus raised the daughter of Jairus from death, John was there with Jesus (Mark 5:21-43). When Jesus resurrected from the dead, John was there when He appeared to the disciples (John 20:19-23). At Jesus’ Ascension into heaven, John was with the disciples (Acts 1:1-11). At the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was come upon the disciples, John was one of them. So John had a testimony; he heard Jesus and saw His works. He was then convinced and nothing could change his mind about the Word of life. What have you seen? What have you heard? What is your conviction? What is your testimony? John’s testimony made him stronger to stand and conquer all battles until He was called home.

1 John 1:1-2
1 That which was from the beginning, which WE HAVE HEARD, WHICH WE HAVE SEEN with our eyes, WHICH WE HAVE LOOKED UPON and TOUCHED WITH OUR HANDS, concerning the Word of life
2 The life was made manifest, and WE SAW IT, and TESTIFY TO IT, and PROCLAIM to you the eternal life which was with the Father and was made MANIFEST TO US

In this life, one cannot dispute your personal testimony. No one could challenge the personal testimony of John. His testimony and conviction about God was enough for his living. It is your testimony that can drive you – and others into victory. It is jeopardy to lose your testimony in this journey of life! It is your testimony that can take you far in this life. Testimonies are weapons God has given to the church to overcome any battle.

Revelation 12:11
And they have conquered him by the BLOOD of the Lamb and by the WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

Thank God the blood of the Lamb has already been shed; what is left of you is to hold onto your testimony in order to overcome your accuser. You need to have a testimony and you need to keep it forever. Why do you lose your testimony and be afraid of the storm starring at you? Haven’t you read of the Lord who calms the storm and that if only you will invite Him into the situation, you shall experience total calmness and peace?

DISCOVER THE SECRET WEAPONS OF A LIFE CHAMPION

Today, more than ever, it’s imperative and important that Christians understand how they can walk in the victory Christ Jesus won for us through His death and resurrection. You need to know how to stand against the adversary, the devil who prowls like a roaring lion because it is dangerous to be ignorant of his schemes and devices.

In The Unfailing Weapons of A Believer, Richard Adu Poku uses Life Experiences, Biblical Insights, and Interesting Stories to illustrate the sure weapons God has given to All Believers to stand the devil boot for boot.
This book will help you to discover that, though, God has provided weapons for His children, He cannot use these weapons on their behalf as an earthly father cannot study and pass an exam for his children though he may provide all the necessary books and materials the children may need to study– the children would have to use and study the materials themselves in order to pass an exam.

ARISE, CRY OUT IN THE NIGHT

#Hour of Hope#

ARISE, CRY OUT IN THE NIGHT

Memory Verse: Lamentation 2:19

Nothing is more convenient and refreshing than to have a remedy for life-long battle – it could be ailment, joblessness, fruitlessness in life among others. A solution to a life problem brings joy. Israel has been in captivity for so many years and they were despaired.

The Lord however through the prophet Jeremiah gives them ‘medication’ to that which has oppressed them for so many years; which is “Arise, cry out in the night”.

Beloved, the Lord still prescribes this solution. Spend time in the night and cry to God and He will hear you because His ears are not heavy, you just have to call out to Him. You have been sleeping for too long. Wake up at night and cry to God.

PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank You for my life. I cry to You in my distress and humbly plead for Your rescue in Jesus’ Name. Amen!

THE UNFAILING WEAPONS OF A BELIEVER

Names are powerful tools used to identify people. Names have meanings and your name alone can fetch you some blessings in life. The first man God created was given the name Adam, which means earthy; thus Adam was formed from the dust of the ground, hence his name (Genesis 2:7). Your name depicts the beliefs of them that gave you. Names given to children have consequences on them. Therefore parents must be careful of the names they choose for their children; they should not be blindfolded of its repercussions.
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 (NLT)
9 There was a man named Jabez who was more honourable than any of his brothers. His mother named him Jabez because his birth has been so painful.
10 He was the one who prayed to God of Israel, “Oh, that You would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request.
Jabez means sorrow or trouble. His mother gave him that name because of her belief, but it took the guy to pray to invoke the blessings of God upon himself; and he became more honourable than all his brothers.
God changed the names of some people who walked with Him because of the weaknesses that were found in the earlier names their parents gave them. God wished a new identity for these people, hence the new names. Abram’s name was changed to ‘Abraham’ which means father of multitude or many nations. When Abram met God, he was not biologically a father, although he was an acting father of his clan. But God gave him the new name Abraham because of God’s desire for him; that he will be a father of many nations!
Genesis 17:5
5 No longer shall your name be ABRAM, but your name shall be ABRAHAM; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations.
Names are powerful! Abraham is our fore father; we are all descendants of Abraham. Indeed he has become a father of many nations. His wife Sarai’s name was changed to Sarah which means Princess. Hitherto her name Sarai meant My Princess. So Sarai was only for Abram; she was Abram’s princess. But when Abram’s name was changed to Abraham meaning father of multitudes, his wife would no longer be his princess alone but the princess of the whole universe, hence the name Sarah which means Princess.
Genesis 17:15
15 And God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name SARAI, but SARAH shall be her name.
Lastly let’s consider the last person among others whose name God changed – Jacob. Jacob manipulated his brother to give him his firstborn birthright and deceived his father, Isaac, to give him the firstborn blessing. Jacob means Supplanter; which means the one who take the place or position of somebody by force. He had weakness in his name. No wonder he had to manipulate his big brother and deceive his father for what belonged to his big brother. When he met God however, his name was changed to Israel. The former name had some flaws and needed to be changed.
Genesis 32:28
28 Then he said, "Your name shall no more be called JACOB, but ISRAEL, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed."
In the culture that I find myself, when Christianity began in the seventeen century, all those who converted into Christ were given new ‘Christian’ names. Their traditional names were changed and they assumed new names. I think some of these change of names were inspired by God, and it was a step in the right direction because the meaning of some of the traditional names had a toll on the progress of the individual. Thank God for change of name and the new identity in Christ!
Before God, whoever has converted to Christianity has his name changed from a sinner to a child of God. (John 1:12). He inherits a new identity. He becomes a new creation with a new name (2 Corinthians 5:17).
